Managing director
BIOM-R, s.r.o. oversees two research, development and production laboratories as well as an e-shop
Animstem Laboratories
Animstem Laboratories – for research and development of therapeutic applications and production of stem cells for animal treatment. In our laboratory, which is licensed to produce personalized veterinary medicines, we process tissues rich in stem cells from our animal clients (e.g., adipose tissue). We isolate and freeze the cells or, if necessary, immediately multiply them according to the requirements of veterinarians for the treatment of their patients. This means that we prepare and store frozen stem cells for their potential use in the future, known as banking, because many diseases only manifest themselves at a later age. By cryopreservation, stem cells retain their ageless therapeutic potential. If an animal is already sick, we immediately multiply the isolated stem cells for planned therapeutic use. We also cryopreserve and store some of the stem cells from these dogs or cats for future therapeutic use (more at www.animstem.com).
Stem Cell Laboratory
Stem Cell Lab – for research into therapeutic applications and the preparation of stem cells for the treatment of human diseases. Last year, we obtained a license from the Slovak Ministry of Health to operate a human stem cell tissue facility. In this laboratory, we process donated perinatal tissues such as umbilical cord blood, umbilical cord tissue, and amniotic membrane for research and experimental therapeutic purposes. We also provide services for the isolation, freezing and storage of autologous mesenchymal stem cells from adipose tissue for future therapeutic use by clients.
Aweage
Aweage – an e-shop with longevity nutritional supplements (www.aweage.sk) is a premium e-shop with nutritional supplements offering scientifically proven supplements such as NMN, resveratrol, and betaine. Others are in preparation, such as Magtein, krill oil, berberine, quercetin, coenzyme Q10, spermidine, and other substances with the potential to slow down the aging process at the cellular level. In addition to the "longevity" series, we expect to have approximately 20 products in several series, such as "brain and memory," "metabolic health," and others.
Research and Development
Research Projects and Collaboration
We collaborate with several scientific research organizations in our research work. Our longest collaboration is with the Institute of Experimental Oncology at the Biomedical Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, where we have collaborated on several research projects using stem cells, mainly in the field of preleukemic clones in the umbilical cord blood of newborns. This collaboration has yielded original results that have been published in international scientific journals.
Below is a list of these publications:

Our laboratories are located in BIONT, a.s. building – a Slovak manufacturer of radiopharmaceuticals and a diagnostic PET center. Together with employees of BIONT, a.s. and the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, we are working to develop a diagnostic and potentially also a theranostic tool using mesenchymal stem cells. We have presented our initial results only as a contribution to a student scientific conference.

Another project, within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Faculty of Pharmacy of Comenius University in Bratislava, is the development and preparation of eye drops based on stem cell products for dogs with cataracts. As part of the experiment, we prepared eye drops according to a pre-designed composition of regenerative eye instillation containing conditioned media from stem cell cultivation in accordance with good tissue practice procedures. [Guidance FDA, 2011]. The composition was optimized in terms of the solubility of individual components in the presence of other active components and the possibilities of aseptic preparation using bacterial filtration with a 0.22 µm membrane filter were technologically verified. After adjusting the pH to an acceptable physiological range of 5.8 to 11.4, the physicochemical properties (density, viscosity, and surface tension) and ex vivo irritancy on erythrocytes were evaluated.
